The SCMCS is one of 12 national car clubs chosen to represent the launch of Garagistry.com. Garagistry is a national database for classic car collectors to gather, trade tips, get the lowdown on parts location and secure the history of their car in a national registry. Forever. Its kinda cool, it'll take the guess work out of where your car has been and where it will go. Registry is completely free for SCMCS members. Make sure you join under our club and when prompted for the code enter "SCMCS." Click on the pic to register! -Brett
CARMAEGEDDON! It's time to hit the road again. This Sunday, April 1st (no fools day joke) we are meeting up at The Carriage Shop at 5:00pm. We are cruising to Scott's Fish Market in Shelter Cove Harbour for dinner and drinks. SCMCS member Glen Barroncini is hosting a fundraiser for the Hospice Organization, a home care group that took care of Glen's mom during her final days. He wants to give back to them, so I figured it would be nice for us to show our support too! Also, we are going to have the club registered on Garagistry to establish a national presense. I'll have my computer with me so I can walk you guys through all the steps. The GoPro footage I got from our last cruise blew my mind, so I would like to get some more to add to the film. (I'm sure you won't mind) SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY...be there! In the meantime, keep the dirty side down. -Brett
The time change. That wonderful time of year where you actually get some sun on your drive home from work....and the muscle cars line up as far as the eye can see. Sorry, for the last minute notice, but it's too nice not to. Lets meet and go for a cruise. It's been a fun winter and I've got some exciting news for the SCMCS....we're getting some national attention. Bout time. See ya there, till then...

So my project manager at my new job happens to be married to one of the higher ups at CH2. She was really proud about the SCMCS taking honors at Concours and convinced her husband to run a story for us. Cool huh? I had a small window to get the story out so what you read is full of typos. I just hope they catch them before it goes to print. To all my constituents, GREAT JOB! Oh, and I sent a proofread version to Hot Rod, Car Craft, Muscle Car Review and Hemmings Muscle Machines so be on the lookout. Oh, oh and Club VP Jesse Cadman is bombarding Lowcountry news outlets to make sure everyone gets to keep the dirty side down. Booyah! -Br8

Best of Show- Rob Iulo
The SCMCS welcomes Rob Iulo and his 32 Ford Rod which I've dubbed "The Reaper," if he hasn't already named it. Its got a 350 pushing 830 SUPERCHARGED ponies and runs the quarter in the mid ten second range. F#@*. I've been pushing Rob to join our ranks for over a year now and last wednesday, he finally bit. Rob worked for M/T back in the day and in the 90's designed rims for Radir Wheels and helped bring back the 50's Gasser, 60's Street Rod look to the current market. This year at the Concours we had ten spots, so in true SCMCS fashion, we snuck in an 11th late arrival. Rob showed up and took "Best of Show," and was instrumental in the SCMCS taking "Top Club" for added variety to our amazing line up. Wanna hear the best part? He's got a Willy's Gasser with a planet devouring 426hemi in the works. Welcome again Rob, you're home. -Brett
Crescent Award (Exhibitor's Choice)-Laurie Towler
Hats off the Laurie Towler and "The Possum." Two of the most beautiful girls of the SCMCS. This car was easily the most talked about Muscle Car of the Concours. Dennis Gage loved it, other club members were drooling over it, and all of the exhibitors came together to give it the "Crescent Award." For those of you who dont know her, Laurie is a badass. She's part Laura Dern, part Steve McQueen, part Terminator (.357 magnum with laser scope...not kidding), part biker chick, a total hottie and just one of the nicest persons that you would ever meet. She's been a Wheelman for 2 years now and represents the SCMCS to the utmost (She even married a fellow SCMCS wheelman!). Her '68 Firebird 400 is no joke, with Death's Head under the grill and a 4-speed Hurst behind the motor over a set of Redline Tires... "The Possum" is an insane example of what original muscle should look like with a personal touch. And to think, this girl thanked me for inviting and including her...no Laurie, from all of us, THANK YOU! -Brett
And now for the "THANKS!"...
Ever since I got behind the wheel, I had wanted to bring Muscle Cars together. This club, ALL of you being here, driving together, getting loose together and making the public AWARE of Detroit Muscle..it's always been a goal. I just never knew it would be this fun. Thank you to the Wheelmen of the SCMCS. It is an honor and a privledge to assemble and lead you.
Thank you Alexxis Andreas-Cadman (SCMCS Photographer & 1st Daughter)
Your first step into photography helped grow the SCMCS ranks as Drivers were waiting out the door for you to shoot them in motion. You're my world and inspiration for everything. Daddy's so proud.
Thank you Jesse Cadman(VP) & Bryan Puffinberger(founder)
And to think, all this started over some XX's at La Hacienda. Look what we did.
Thanks MOM&DAD not only for funding the SCMCS retail startup, but for expecting the success we acheived.
Thank you Bill Mueller. Your crankety ass has always kept me level headed and your DEDICATION to
the SCMCS has always kept me listening.
Thank you Giuseppe Picone. You saved my car's life and put the SCMCS back on the road.
Thank you Mr & Mrs. Puffinberger and The Carriage Shop. What a pretty place to start our cruises, thank you for the hospitality.

SCMCS Special Thanks to Byron Kenneweg
Byron was the first to pick up a video camera and film the SCMCS. Im sure we all have memories of a guy looking like Chuck Norris hanging out the side of a 68 Tempest with a camera inches from the ground, filming us at wide open throttle. He has always jumped at the opportunity to shoot us and would navigate a moving convertible to get us the best shots possible. Byron has always loved Detroit Iron (unfortunatly sold his Roush just months before the SCMCS was born), and is shopping for a 71 Roadrunner/Satellite (keep on the lookout) and is a super dedicated driver and best friend. One time he outran the cops, drifting turns at 85+mph just to get me and my severed digit to the ER, and this weekend he drove an 11-hour roundtrip just to see us in the Concours. Thank you for filming what turned out to be the best Muscle Car vids on the internet, our club was built on people wanting to be filmed. Thank you for your unwarrented and unpaid dedication to the SCMCS. Thank you for your friendship. The SCMCS salutes Byron Kenneweg. -Brett

Sunday's cruise was a little different. The Bluffton crew met up at Captain Woody's then cruised to the Island for a surprise Birthday event for an old car nut. It was his 80th birthday and he was blown away at the muscle that showed up to salute him. We were treated to complimentary beer and pretzels at the Golf Club, (what, no Caviar?) and then departed for a twilight cruise back to Captain Woody's in the Bluffton Promenade where the Puffinburger's from The Carriage Shop treated the gang to a whole slew of appetizers. What is it about free food that makes it taste so good? Click on the pic above to see more photos from the cruise.

For those of you that missed it, YOU MISSED IT. No fear, we will do it again really soon. This time, bite the bullet and come racing. Enjoy these pics as the race vid will be up soon. Thanks to all the racers that let me film shotgun, good runs, good job keeping the dirty side down. Matt, got any advil? I've got whiplash.

Beaufort ENLISTS in the SCMCS!
Saturday's cruise was a small, but important one. A handful of Wheelmen from Beaufort came down to see what the SCMCS is all about and brought some beautiful cars with them. The guys were right at home, laid back dudes that let the exhaust burble do the talking. Im excited to see where this will take the club in its 2nd year, as expansion is only speeding up. Some thoughts were thrown around including a cruise up to Beaufort or a halfway point to meet up on a MEGA-CRUISE. Anyways, this is just the start and it was more fun than ever! -Brett
Sunday's cruise was fun, it was nice running in to you. Aww, not funny. Matt took the SCMCS members on an hour long cruise in the rolling countryside by Ridgeland and I-95. The run was perfect, with straights, bends and some top-gear wide open throttle blasts down the interstate. I think we're gonna have to do this one again. Anyways, click on the picture above for more pics from the run!
A little wet, a lotta' fun!

Saturday's cruise brought even MORE MUSCLE to the SCMCS. Where are these cars coming from you ask? How do they keep seeping out of the woodwork? Well to partly answer your question, the Burnout contest spread the gospel of muscle to Beaufort, Charleston and even down to Savannah. Local "park and show" classic clubs are taking heed to the idea of driving with the SCMCS and we welcome them with open arms. If you are new to the SCMCS and did not fill out one of our membership registration forms, be sure and stop by the Driver's Lounge Forum to give me some info to go along with your car's pic in the members rides area. Welcome, and keep the dirty side down.
World Premiere: SMOKE 'EM if ya GOT 'EM!
THE SCMCS ROLLS HARD IN THE BIGGEST VIDEO YET!
James Bradford, aka "The Bike Doctor" and the dude with the blue and black skull-splitting Chevelle, scored with a Super Bowl Sunday purchase. Mid-game I was notified of Jame's buy and I left the Saint's and the Colts to duke it out alone. When I got to his house, I about freaked. A 1968 Dodge Coronet RT with a mystery 440 big block with Mopar Rally wheels was staring at me. The car needs some work, but this bad girl will be up and running with the SCMCS very soon!
SCMCS: Snow Covered Muscle Car Society?
Huh? Do what now?
This weather is starting to tick me off, I mean come on now.... what happened to all the global warming we contributed to by driving high compression big blocks with terrible gas mileage and plenty-o fossil fuel emissions? Oh and before someone gets all "the colder, longer lasting winter is a result of the greenhouse effect disrupting the normal weather cycle" let me interject and tell you to go give Al Gore a call, I think he needs one of his private jets waxed. Last Friday night, I left work to find my car blanketed in this weird white stuff. Sure she started right up, but I couldn't see anything and was left with only one option... turn hard left on the wheel, slip her in to 1st gear, pop the clutch and do a free spinning, high revving, blizzard emulating de-icing procedure aptly named "snow-nuts." Please tell me I wasn't the only one from the SCMCS out doing donuts in the snow, I know Mr. Mueller was in Miami, but what about the rest of you guys?

Burnin Rubber: The SCMCS lifts the Smoking Ban
click to see more pics from the event!
Sunday, January 31st marked a new page in history for the SCMCS. The 1st annual "Smoke 'Em If Ya Got 'Em" Burnout Contest was EPIC. With over 50 cars competing in the contest and over 500 people in the audience... it was the largest SCMCS event to date. Keefe Blatchley, owner of Blatchley Brake and Tire in Ridgeland, SC (and driver of The General Lee), hosted the event complete with a band, a shrimp broil, bleachers and the population of a small town to boot. The day started with a cruise from the Carriage Shop in Bluffton out to the event up Highway 17, an old country road with freight trains runnin' along side the pack. We picked up alot of new members, some mopars and even a blown 'Cuda. Matt Zampino, owner of Matt Auto in Bluffton had a good day. He walked away with 1st place and a much needed $400 towards new slicks. He also built 2 of the top 3 finalists, and even installed struts on the one he didnt build. Talk about bragging rights. It was alot of fun and worth the "black lung" we all got from breathing evaporated tires for 2 hours. We're definately doing this again. -Brett
1st Place Winner Matt Zampino '70 Elky
Matt Zampino was the man to beat on Sunday. His supercharged El Camino "Hammer of the Gods" gave stiff competition to the pack. The contest's rules were even constructed specially to make sure the Matt didn't just walked away with the prize money. Hey, we tried. Good job Matt, we expected nothing less from you... Matt won $400 worth of rubber from Blatchley Brake and Tire in Ridgeland.
2nd Place Winner Bill Mueller '72 Camaro
Bill Mueller killed it, taking a strong 2nd place win. He smoked his tires riding it out sideways within inches of the disqualification line. His 383 stroker was going full tilt boogie, and I'll be damned if that boy doesn't know how to drive his car. Bill displayed the humility of a professional when he stopped the smoke and hopped out for a bow and a curtsy to the audience. Yes a curtsy. He won a $100 Gift Certificate to CarQuest.
3rd Place Winner Russ Brown '78 Vette
Russ Brown took 3rd place with a run in Matt Zampino's 1978 Corvette. His first pass ended up with a false start DQ, but Russ redeemed himself with a burnout that had NASA officials wondering if they had missed a rocket launch on their lunchbreak. He won a $25 Gift Certificate to Racer's Source in Ridgeland, then gave it to Jaime Jean for her Chevelle after a miscalculated score at the awards ceremony.
Burnin' some Bowtie!
Jaime Jean let me smoke a wheel in her 70 Chevelle SS
(Mr. Ryan, I assure you the car is fine! Good Job on the build!)
NEW SCMCS Store!
New SCMCS junk to buy! Bring your money, I NEED it!
Yeah, this rocks. I just finished some new and exciting stuff for us to buy! First of all, the SCMCS t-shirts will be available (in limited supply at first, so get 'em while they're hot) and SCMCS member's window stickers. The shirts are top quality American Apparel "Ringer Tee's." They last forever and the first batch will rock the retro feel. The shirts cost $30 each and you will get a 10 pack of stickers with each shirt you buy. You can buy stickers separately for $2 a piece. I will also be out there with a large format printer printing out big, professionally finished photographs of your baby in the Burnout Contest, or any other archive photo that you would like. I'm still figuring out how much these will cost. The retail will be a little pricey, I know, but all of the proceeds will go back into the maintenance of the SCMCS... a no-dues organization that is starting to rack up my "out of pocket expenses". As always, you never have to buy anything except your own gas. Also, this is in no way a guilt trip to get your hard earned cash. What I'm trying to do is offer you top quality SCMCS merchandise that you can't wait to wear or hang up in your house. Take a look, I'll have a booth set up at the Burnout Contest.... oh yeah, and bring some cash if you want. -Brett
SCMCS Cruise #11: The Toy Drive
click for more pics
Sunday, December 20th was an interesting cruise to say the least. Steph, one of the dudes in charge of setting up the annual Xmas Toy-Ride had given an invite to the SCMCS to go along with all the bikers. Hmmm, bikes and muscle cars... not a bad mix. We met at the Okatie Ale House and registered along with the 200 plus bikers for a cruise to Deepwell to drop off our toys for needy children, then to The Smokehouse for a catered event. A police escort made the cruise very fun on the 2nd half. At the beginning of our cruise the police stopped the escort after the last biker and before the first muscle car. This made things a little hairy as The Bandit was almost "t-boned" at an intersection and so was Marilyn! When we got to Deepwell, Gary Smith voiced his concern to the boys in blue and we figured out a good way for us all to roll as one big happy family. I lead the parade with The General followed by a long train of muscle and bikes. It was the first time I was behind the flashing blue lights, which was nice for a change. The turnout was awesome, we raised alot of money for a great cause, and we nabbed some new SCMCS members along the way!!!!
Cruise #10: Shut up n' Drive.
Sunday's cruise was a bunch of fun. The Bandit and The General were there together for the first time. Newcomers Justin and Sonny showed up with their '70 Lemans and '30 Model A. This was our first cruise to get back to the roots. No posters, no ads, no video (except for the General doin' a massive anti-rubber campaign), no photos except for newcomers. It was a blast. I needed it to get back to the drive and away from all the hoopla. Is the hoopla over? Hell No! I think what will happen from now on is 2 of these lowbudget cruises in between a big budget cruise. This will get us back on the road more often and give me a chance to breathe in the octane. Oh yeah, how about the tool gettin crazy in the Challenger? I would like to go on record saying that this gentleman was in no way associated with the SCMCS, nor does the SCMCS condone wreckless driving. Do we get loose? Hell Yes! Do we do it in the parking lot of our cruise destination's place of business? Hell No!

Cruise #9: Rebels With a Cause
We got The General and The Bandit!!!
click on the poster for more pics
The Cruise was great! Ok so maybe our next one will skip the island.... and not be paced by a 1000 plus horsepower drag car! (Just kidding Matt, great job) Two days of cruising for a cause picked up alot of money for Chelsea Hess, a girl in need. It also picked up some great new cars to go drive with us! A General Lee clone (440rt '69 Charger), a Bandit Trans Am and a '72 De Tomaso Pantera to name a few that were in their first outing of the SCMCS and are great additions to the best collection of muscle man has ever seen. Another favorite was Jaime Priddy and her beautiful Chevelle she built with her dad. Talk about "Girl Power!" Special thanks to Dasha V, who donated a huge portion of her print earnings to the cause and to everyone who came out, donated and made a difference in this girl's life!
This marks a new period for the SCMCS. We are still a young group, but the cars keep adding on. For the next few months we are gonna meet twice a month. I miss you guys, and for those of you that can't make a cruise, I'm going to put one right around the corner to get us all together again. To all of our new members, welcome to the SCMCS. We are drivers. We drive. Nuff said. Until the next time, "Keep the dirty side down!" -Brett

SCMCS: "Year Zero"
"An in depth look at the Muscle Militia"
So here we are rolling up on what will be the 1st birthday of the SCMCS. Although the club was founded in April of 2009, it really started when my brother got his '68 Tempest. I had always been a gearhead, my first and only car is still my daily driver and club beauty. Sure she needs some work, but those tires hit the pavement 300 days a year (adjusted 65 days in the shop, she's a Ford). Back in November of '08, I had tried to get all my friends to buy this damned '68 Poncho so I could have a driving buddy. No luck. Then one fateful night my brother said "I want it." The rest is history. Man, we started cruising like a mofo and I was so excited to get my brother into the passion. I never realized how close these cars can bring people together. My brother and I now have a bond that nobody can take from us.
That brings me to the point of this rant. I love you bastards. When we decided to form a group of drivers, we had no idea how it would go. We were worried that we would only get trailer queens or a-holes with a holier than thou attitude. We were worried of politics and a society getting too big and running away from the whole reason we started driving. Boy were we wrong.
We keep getting thanks for all the work we do on the site and with the pics and so forth, but the real thanks goes out to you guys. There will never be another club like this. Ever. Our common bond is what is at our core. We are drivers. We know what a wide open throttle feels like in a big block American v8. We are Chevy guys, Ford guys and MOPAR nuts with all types of common love for American Muscle. I used to hate anything that wasn't a Mustang. I was an idiot.
So come one come all, if you drive, if you have an American icon, if you love the road.... you are not alone. Welcome to the SCMCS, and remember..... keep the dirty side down! -Brett

Concours de' Elegance
(q:"What'll she do?" a:"No Clue!")
I just got back from the Concours and let me tell you something. "THANK GOD FOR THE SCMCS!!"
There were some beautiful brawlers there, Stingrays, Hot Rods, a Challenger, Super Cobra-Jet Mustangs, an AMX and one of the prettiest Torinos' one ever laid eyes on. I had gone in hope to get a couple of new drivers for the SCMCS, but instead found quite the opposite. One owner actually said "To tell you the truth, I have more fun driving the truck with her in the trailer behind me! I just appreciate all the modern conveniences." My friend Byron responded with "What a WASTE!" and I threw up a little in my mouth. I'm so proud to drive with all of you. YOU are the WHEELMEN (and wheelwoman Laurie) and there will never be another group as committed or badass as the SCMCS. Thanks -Brett

That was BAD ASS.
Tuesday night's cruise went off without a hitch and no one was "ELIMIN8-ed", Bill got close, but a quick distributor cap adjustment and some throttle linkage work put him back on the road. I would like to say welcome to the SCMCS to all of our new members. We are the urban legend of muscle in motion that you have heard about. Welcome aboard.
This club is only 5 months old and is only expanding. We are the ones that will build it up and keep it's foothold in the history of the muscle car. Good times, good friends and one hell of a drive, this is the SCMCS. -Brett

The SCMCS on WHHI's "Talk of the Town"
For those of you that missed the airing....
SuperSport Showdown... "a motion picture"
What could top the best muscle car cruise possible? A movie documenting the whole ride. Byron Kenneweg (the dude that resembles a young Chuck Norris) did one hell of a job risking life and limb hanging out of Jesse Cadman's '68 Pontiac Tempest getting some really sweet shots of our babies on parade. I always get excited when it comes time to edit these vids, because Byron is really talented and understands how a muscle car should be filmed. Byron has always been a muscle car freak and is so dedicated to the hobby, he sold his Roush Mustang to buy a Hyundai and film our club! Next time you see this man, buy him a beer!

Record Turnout Makes #7 The Largest Cruise Yet
CLICK TO SEE MORE PICS FROM THE CRUISE
I was reviewing the video of the cruise and realized that we all had... for lack of better words, a moment. In the footage, the camera walks by most of us in the crowd as we are exiting our cars immediately after the cruise. I couldn't help but notice that we were all giggling like little school girls in Saturday detention. ALL OF US. Yep even some of you real big guys with Scamps. No names.
The SuperSport Showdown brought in a lot of new talent to the club. I'm really excited about the fact that we acquired an AMX and an AC Cobra. This completes the club having representation of every automaker to ever pump out a Muscle Car. I would like to welcome all new members and say both thank you for coming out and welcome to the society of muscle car drivers and the idea of the "Rolling Car Show." Thanks also to WiseGuys for giving the SCMCS VIP treatment.
The cruise was great and the turnout was mind boggling. Our next venue should probably have a spot where we can all line up. This would ease the cruise start and also make for an awesome picture. As traffic dies with the season, our cruises should go along like butter on a hot knife.

Cruise #6: Beach Break Grill & Badass Big-Blocks!
click on picture to see more pics from the cruise
Tuesday night's cruise was a huge success. Special thanks to Tim Neil and the Beach Break Grill for picking up our cruise on such short notice. I was a little worried when our original venue changed, but a quick call to Tim changed all that. The Beach Break Grill loved having us and can't wait to do it again. Neither can I. It had a great location, plenty of parking (sorry Papa John's guys) and full view of Palmetto Bay Road. This gave us a lot of exposure from passing cars and even Beaufort's finest. We have an officer that wants to join the ranks of the SCMCS and this might be a good thing for any members with lead-foot-itus.
We had a total of 7 new members and from the sound of it, plenty more are on their way. The word is out and membership is growing fast. The cruise went well except for 2 lost souls and 2 cars towed, but as Eric says: "you gotta pay to play!"
We have an invitation to WiseGuys for our next cruise and I wanted to see what you guys thought. Sure it might be like "putting a dress on a pig" as the SCMCS is a very casual group and WiseGuys is a fancy winebar, but I think it might be interesting. Also keep in mind that this is at Main Street, the known gathering place for the Carolina Dreamers. Our presence in their turf may initiate a gang war resulting in violence and bloodshed. Or not, but either way post your opinion in the Driver's Lounge forum. Until then, keep the dirty side down!
We had a total of 7 new members and from the sound of it, plenty more are on their way. The word is out and membership is growing fast. The cruise went well except for 2 lost souls and 2 cars towed, but as Eric says: "you gotta pay to play!"

The SCMCS finally got a MOPAR!!!!
It took 5 cruises and a lot of broken promises, but after 4 cruises of strictly cars from the GM and Ford camps we finally have MOPAR representation! I could not believe how hard it was to get one of these cars up here. I made friends with a '71 Challenger owner, another '08 Challenger owner and had heard from numerous club members about Travus Towler's Scamp so I knew it was just a matter of time before our triad was complete.
When I rolled up to the Beach Break Grill on Tuesday, I about flipped. When I saw the yellow on the fenders I knew that the Scamp had arrived and my search was over. Travus's 1973 Plymouth Scamp is an awesome example of the "no frills" hurting power that MOPAR put out in its heyday. The Scamp, which shared the Valient and the Duster setup, was offered to the budget minded gearhead of the muscle car era. They gave a lot of bang for minimal buck and won the hearts of purists and speed demons alike.

Cruise #5:We're like the Postal Service...only a hellova' lot louder!
How does that old saying go "In rain or shine in snow or nuclear war"... or something like that?
Tuesday, July 7th was an interesting cruise. At first I thought that no one would come out in the rain, but Jesse and I thought "screw it" and went to the meet spot to see who would show. It was awesome. We had a lot of new members show up with their pretty cars and absolutely no qualms about getting them wet. The wet pavement made for an awesome chance for everyone to show off their high-revving parking techniques and took a gloomy day and turned the frown upside down.
However, I think this might be the last time we meet next to a residential area.
I took the opportunity to tell the officer that one of our cars had lost a drive-belt and that the only way he could keep the motor going to drive it out of there was to keep the revs above three grand. The nice officer looked at me with one of those "huh?" looks and told us to keep it down and have a nice day. Sweet.
The cruise was fun and aside from a overheated pit-stop we had no problems. Thanks to Shannon and Amy, who I had only met a couple of days before for not only braving the weather in their beautiful 68 SS Camaro, but for also shooting some video of the whole meet.
